概要	In this panel discussion, Kikuchi provided remarks on "Sustainability of Nonprofit Organizations After the Great East Japan Earthquake." Based on his investigation of NPOs in disaster-affected areas, he pointed out that 4 years and 6 months after the disaster was a turning point marked by a decline in grants and subsidies. He demonstrated that Japanese NPOs, unlike those in the United States, face a structural problem in which donations do not directly reach organizations but rather funnel through government and foundations, resulting in excessive dependence on grants and subsidies. By presenting several case studies of NPOs, he illustrated strategies for business development and utilization of government-commissioned projects. He then raised the need for diversified revenue sources and the development of new business models.
