概要 This paper assesses application-level QoS when emergency and medical data are transferred using the polling MAC protocol in a two-hop IEEE 802.15.6 wireless BAN. In the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless BANs, nodes can transmit data MPDUs to the hub via a relaying node when direct transmission between the hub and nodes is not possible because of poor link quality. This paper focuses on a two-hop topology wireless BAN where a hub operates in beacon mode with superframes. A part of channel capacity in a superframe is allocated to the relaying node and the relaying node polls each node attempting to two- hop transmission. The rest capacity is used by the hub to poll each node attempting to one-hop transmission. By simulation, we first evaluate the influence of channel allocation duration for the relaying node on the average media unit (MU) delay and discuss appropriate channel allocation duration for the relaying node. We then examine the effects of priority control and additional polling for emergency and medical nodes on the application-level QoS. Simulation results show that the additional polling in addition to the priority control is effective in achieving good average MU delay for emergency and medical transmission.
