概要 This paper studies emergency data transmission in a wireless body area network with the block ACK mechanism of the IEEE 802.15.6 CSMA/CA. In the block ACK mechanism, a node can transmit multiple MAC protocol data units (MPDUs) successively as a data block. By simulation, we first examine the effect of the block ACK mechanism on the application-level QoS when emergency, medical, and background data are transferred from nodes to the hub. We evaluate throughput, average media unit (MU) delay, and coefficient of variation of MU delay at the application-level when the number of background nodes increases. Numerical results show that average MU delay and coefficient of variation of MU delay for emergency data are improved and are less affected by the background data traffic if the block ACK mechanism is carried out. We also discuss the influence of emergency data transmission using the block ACK on the performance of medical data and that of background data. Furthermore, we examine how maximum block size in a data block and maximum number of successive data block transmission affect average emergency MU delay. Simulation results show that average emergency MU delay is slightly improved if emergency nodes are allowed to send multiple data blocks successively when emergency MU size is large or retransmissions of MPDUs occur owing to transmission errors.
