| 概要 | Social media are attractive communication tools for nonprofit organizations. Virtually free, these tools enable nonprofits to instantly send out information to indefinite number of people regardless of their locations. Better yet, social media open up the possibility for nonprofits to facilitate dialogue with the audience. This paper examines whether social media are particularly meaningful for newly established organizations seeking to increase visibility and to attract resources. Taking the case of nonprofits that emerged following the 2011 Japan disaster, the paper finds that frequent Facebook posts and Twitter tweets may contribute to increasing the amount of donations collected by a nonprofit. |
