概要 | This paper assesses application–level QoS in the case where medical data is transferred with the block acknowledgment (ACK) mechanism of the IEEE 802.15.6 CSMA/CA. In the IEEE 802.15.6 medium access control (MAC), a node can transmit multiple MAC protocol data units (MPDUs) successively as a data block with the block ACK. By simulation, we first examine the effect of the block ACK mechanism on the application–level QoS in the case where medical data and background data are transferred from nodes to the hub. Simulation results show that the block ACK mechanism can improve the average media unit (MU) delay for medical data. We also reveal that the average MU delay for medical data decreases as the MU rate becomes larger, while the throughput for background data deteriorates under heavy traffic conditions. Furthermore, we examine the influence of medical data transmission with the block ACK on emergency data transmission. Numerical results show that the block ACK mechanism can deteriorate the average MU delay for emergency data if a large number of medical MPDUs are transferred successively as a data block. |
